Our mission.
YSFF is a platform that uplifts unique student voices from around the world. We seek to amplify stories that only students can tell, and build global and local communities of young filmmakers who can support each other as they enter the entertainment industry.
Our team.
The festival is entirely run by Yale University undergraduates: our programming team selects the festival lineup, while our directing board recruits guest speakers and plans the four-day event.
Our films.
Since YSFF’s founding in 2015, we've received over more 9000 student submissions from over 50 countries. This international reach reflects YSFF’s commitment to promote diverse voices in student filmmaking. We also work to connect with local Connecticut and New England high schools and universities to build a student filmmaker network in the region.
Submit Your Film
Festival submissions are open until February 1, 2025.
College & high school student filmmakers are eligible to submit! The festival features five competitions: narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, and high school.
We hope to put together a program that encompasses a variety of genres, media, experiences, and cinematic journeys.
